A Small Home, A Big Transformation
Today, we’re sharing with you a project that we’re very excited about! In this renovation, we were able to maximize every square inch of a seemingly modest and outdated house to create a stunning home that is far from ordinary.
The home, the smallest on the block, appeared as a single-story dwelling when viewed from the street, with a steeply sloping lot. Though it offered stunning views of Twin Peaks, the home’s outdated design and limited usable space hindered its potential.
Our clients, a British family of four, were eager to transform this underutilized space into a modern, functional home that reflected their lifestyle.
To achieve this, we designed a four-story home that elegantly followed the natural slope of the land. The main living spaces were strategically placed on the top floor, maximizing the breathtaking views. We also created a cantilevered deck that became a focal point, offering a dramatic outdoor space with large sliding glass doors further emphasizing the connection between indoors and out. We also added a floating staircase, bringing light and airiness to the entire home. A rooftop deck, accessible via a hatch, provided an intimate retreat with amazing city vistas.
The lower levels were thoughtfully designed to accommodate the family’s specific needs. A dedicated music room provided a space for the homeowner’s musical pursuits while a hot tub, accessible directly from the shower, offered a luxurious outdoor experience! And, of course, we addressed the practicalities of modern living with ample storage solutions for the family’s many belongings.
This project is a testament to the power of thoughtful design. By maximizing vertical space and creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor areas, we transformed a small, outdated home into a stunning, functional residence that perfectly suits the needs and aspirations of our clients!
